Mbombela: TS Galaxy Head Coach, Owen Da Gama believes that luck is not on their side at the moment, as the Rockets have not tasted victory in the past three league matches. The club has suffered three defeats in a row. In the past weekend, the Rockets suffered a 2-0 defeat at the expense of the struggling Tshakuma Tsha Madzivhandila. The Rockets are 8th on the log with 26 points after 22 league games. The club is determined to cement that top eight spot. Da Gama believes that the lack of luck in the past three games has contributed to the club’s recent slump. “Once more, we created a lot of chances. They got a very dubious goal. The first goal was very dubious. The ball was out and suddenly, they score from there. You know what, sometimes luck is not on your side. Sometimes the decisions are not from your side. That’s part of luck. You either get the decision or you don’t get them,” Da Gama explained. Despite the recent setbacks, the Rockets are still in the top eight. After 22 games we’ve amassed 26 points and few games away from safety.
“We scored and everybody saw that and we missed the penalty. It just shows you that luck is not on our side. We just need to work harder and harder and see where it goes,” Da Gama elaborated.
TS Galaxy will be facing Amazulu in their next outing on 24 April at Kings Park Stadium. Da Gama indicated that they are targeting a double over Usuthu.
AmaZulu are currently in a red hot form and they are second on the log. But the Rockets are determined to defy the odds and beat AmaZulu for the second time this season. When the teams met at the start of the season, the Rockets dispatched Usutu by 1-0 at Mbombela Stadium. Wayde Lekay was on the score sheet for the Rockets, which was the first victory of TS Galaxy this season. “So, when we meet in Durban, we will be targeting another maximum point. We aim to make it two out of two. The club is cognizant that it won’t be elementary but we are eager to end our winless run,” said the club in a statement. The Rockets will wrap up the month of April with the trip to Venda where they will square off against Baroka FC. Meanwhile, TS Galaxy marksman, Mxolisi Macuphu, is adamant that he will reach his target of 10 strikes in the DSTV Premiership. At the start of the season, Macuphu set himself a target of 10 goals and is left with eight games to fulfil his goal. So far, Macuphu has rattled the net on four occasions and contributed with four assists in 21 games. Macuphu said he is still confident of reaching double figures. “The 10 tally that is targeted is still possible. I can get one game where I can get a brace and then I’ll move to six goals. After that, I can collect a goal there and there. It is still possible, I think,” Macuphu said. Macuphu is a vital cog for the Rockets upfront. He has been very pivotal in terms of creating space and taking the defender off because of his ability to hold the ball. “The good thing is that we are getting those chances. There’s now more quality in creating more goal-scoring opportunities. It is a matter of reaching the right spot,” he added. Macuphu will be looking to get back to the score sheet once again when the team takes on AmaZulu. “We need luck as strikers as well and take every opportunity that comes in our way. The 10 goal tally is still reachable.” He said.
