RATHOKE FC CLINCH EMLM MAYOR’S CUP
Marble Hall:The Prestigious Annual Mayor’s cup tournament was held on Saturday at Elaandskraal stadium outside Marblehall Town. The tournament is aimed at building social cohesion and unearthing rural talent in both football and Netball in our municipality. It was well attended by all sports loving communities across the length and breadth of Ephraim Mogale and the stadium was full to the rafters.All the sixteen wards of our Municipalities took place in this tournament through ward base Soccer, Netball and Ladies soccer teams and they played against each other until the final stage of the tournament where the champions for the Mayor’s cup 2023 were crowned.The Champions for this year’s tournament are Rathoke Soccer Team in ward 4, Moganyaka Netball team in ward 9 and Ward 6 Ladies soccer.The Hon Mayor Cllr Given Moimana gave both champions (Soccer and Netball) Trophies, Gold medals and kits and Ladies soccer received gold medals and trophy. The runner ups for both soccer and Netball also received Kits and bronze medals. The Mayor was joined by the Whip of council cllr Itumeleng Magane, MPAC chairperson cllr Thabiso Mabaso, Chair of chairs cllr Nkoana, Exco members, councilors, senior managers and officials.
The Mayor Cllr Given Moimana has the vision of expanding the horizon of the Mayor’s cup by involving the teams from our elite leagues to come and scout talent in the area”Let me take this opportunity to thank all the teams that participated in this year’s tournament and the organizers who made this tournament a success. Next year we should make sure that we invite both Motsepe league and Dstv Premier soccer League teams to come and scout some players in our shores. And that will serve as a motivation to our boys and girls who want to see themselves playing and making a mark in that professional space. I can attest that we have massive talent in our communities and in future we wanna see some players playing in Profesional leagues. the teams that did not make it please don’t despair, go back to the drawing board and rectify where you did not do well”said Moimana.
