LIMPOPO PROVINCE VISITS SAUDI FOR ENERGY SOLUTIONS

Saudi Arabia:The MEC, RSA Ambassador to Saudi Arabia and the delegation met with the leadership of ACWA Power Holdling
ACWA Power, a leading Saudi developer, investor and operator of power generation and water desalination plants in 13 countries and the lead shareholder in the Redstone in Northern Cape (South Africa) concentrated solar power (CSP) which will yield 100 MW with ZAR 11.6 billion total investment. The Redstone project is the largest renewable energy investment in South Africa to date. ACWA Power specialise in renewable energy and water desalination.The company was started in 2004 and they started their operations in South Africa in 2010 through the renewable energy bid window.
Their pipeline projects in South Africa include solar power and battery storage projects, which will yield a total of 1500 MW of power. They provide project finance , operate and maintenance of the operations.
MEC Monama introduces the team, presented the province comparable advantages and indicated that Limpopo is open to investors.
Both Fetakgomo-Tubatse SEZ and Musina-Makhado SEZ presented the renewable energy project within the zones. The investor made enquiries on the incentives within the SEZs and off-takes for the energy that will be produced within the zones
The Chairperson of the Company will be in South Africa and will visit Limpopo Province on 4th July 2023.

Rafae, the Chief Executive Officer. They are planning a project in South Africa that will yield 45 MW. They also do mall infrastructure and hospitality. They are interested to invest in South Africa on renewable energy and real estate. The MEC will invite the company to Limpopo Province and they are keen to do the project through government to government.
The seminar is for Tourism Destination Marketers..The Intention is to link the Tourism Buyers and/or Operators between Limpopo and Saudi Arabia. At this event, the RSA Ambassador to Saudi Arabia made welcoming remarks and emphasis that the Saudis do not need a Visa to visit South Africa and can visit RSA for a maximum of 180 days. To boost tourism, the Government of Saudi Arabia has announced that there will be direct flight between Saudi Arabia ( Jeddah) and OR Tambo. MEC Monama delivered a keynote address.shocasing its tourism offerings. Of interest is that the Saudi arrivals to South Africa is the biggest of any other country in the Middle East and has surpassed the United Arab Emirates. It is the intention of Limpopo Government to increase the number of Saudi visitors and as well as investors in the hospitality industry.
