STLM CONDUCT IDP AND  BUDGET CONSULTATIVE MEETING IN WARD 4

Komati:During the Mayoral Outreach on the IDP and Budget consultative meeting held today 23 April, the Executive Mayor Mhlonishwa Masilela sought solutions towards service delivery issues of the ward.

 

Residents of Ward 4 came in their numbers and filled the Komati Open area space at the park, to capacity.

 

This was a positive sign that the residents were eager to voice their inputs and comments on the draft 2023/2024 -2025/2026 Integrated Development Plan(IDP) and 2023/2024-2025/2026 Budget.

 

The meeting was chaired by Council Speaker, Cllr Thomas Mpye, Members of the Mayoral Committee, Ward Councillors, representative from the Premier’s Office, Eskom, Municipal Manager Mandla Mnguni and municipal officials were also in attendance.

The Executive Mayor, Cllr Mhlonishwa Masilela delivered a presentation on both the Integrated Development Plan and Budget.

This presentation triggered comments from the community, who made the following inputs and comments:

* An urgent need for a clinic;

* RDP houses

* A skills training academy

* Fixing gravel roads

* Building of an old age home;

* Fixing street lights at Koornfontein;

* Eskom to assist in educating youth on skills and development, job opportunities for youth;

* Agriculture Department to assist with farming;

*Water and sanitation assistance at surrounding farms;

* Local Economic Development Department to assist SMME’s with buying equipment for them;

* Requesting for speed humps at the park area;

* Waste Management to pick up black plastic bags and not only utilising the green wheelie bins;

* High municipal tariffs
