Minister Donates To Leonard Ntshuntshe Secondary School in Emalahleni

EMALAHLENI- Leonard Ntshuntshe Secondary school in Emalahleni, on Monday  15 February 2021 received a warm visitation from the Minister of  Mineral Resources and Energy, Gwede Mantashe together with the Executive Mayor of Emalahleni Local Municipality, Cllr Linah Malatjie.

The aim of  the visit from Minister Mantashe was to  donate  school shoes, scientific calculators and Mathematical sets.

Nathi Shabangu, Media Liason Officer for Mineral Resources and Energy said “ The Minister handed over School Shoes, Scientific calculators, & mathematical sets to the Leonard Ntshuntshe Secondary School in Emalahleni,” said Shabangu.

The visit also forms part of Government’s back to school programme which is aimed at encouraging and giving the necessary support to learners, teachers and School staff as they commence with the new academic calendar.

“The School was allocated to the  Minister by the Departmemt of Education in Mpumalanga. A number of challenges were raised including lack of infrastructure, inadequate fencing, shortage of classrooms, and others. The Minister handed over the above learner material support materials in order to ensure that no child is deprived of their right to education because of the poor economic status of their household,” he added.

Pupils in Leonard Ntshuntshe school were over rejoiced by the fact that Minister Mantashe is going to have the school extended with more classrooms.

In the interview with the Emalahleni Mayor, Cllr Malatjie said “We are happy to be at Leonard Ntshuntshe to  donate with the school shoes, bags and calculators. We believe that the donation will enhance the pass rate this school.” she said.
