Evander/KwaMhlanga:The MEC for Health in Mpumalanga, Sasekani Manzini, has on Wednesday 7 April visited the Evander Hospital vaccination site. The purpose of the visit is to monitor progress on the vaccine rollout programme for the frontline workers.
The MEC was accompanied by the hospital board and they were joined by organised labour. The visited vaccination site caters Evender Hosptital, Bhetal Hospital, Medclinic, primary health care facilities and private practitioners in the Govern Mbeki Local Municipality.
The MEC was impressed by the eagerness of the workers to take the vaccine. “I am happy that the vaccine site is doing well and the public private partnership is practical here, companies are forwarding their health workers to assist with the vaccination programme, I encourage other partners to come forward so that we fight the pandemic together,” she said. Meanwhile Manzini has recently visited KwaMhlanga Hospital in the Thembisile Hani Local Municipality to monitor the vaccine roll-out plan. The programme was focusing on protection of frontline healthcare workers to herd immunity and further reduce the risk of Covid-19 infections.
Manzini took her Covid-19 jab at the hospital to encourage healthcare workers to follow in her footsteps.
Over 14 000 healthcare workers has been vaccinated in Mpumalanga with less than 100 new Covid-19 cases daily. About 13.5 million people were screened for Covid-19 in the province.
The city of Mbombela is leading with over 16 000 recorded Covid-19 infections followed by eMalahleni with 11 000. Dipaleseng has recorded the least number of Covid-19 infections, with only 646 cases reported.
