Moloto: On Friday 31 March 2023 Mogau Grace Mashegwana went out to celebrate her 30th birthday with friends and late that evening she came back home to sleep, to the neighbors surprise Mashegwane’s house caught fire in the wee hours of Saturday morning and her body was burned to death. Her family which resides in Schoornord in Limpopo says there were notified by the neighbors about the gruesome death of their beloved daughter, who survived by one child. The family members came all the way from Limpopo to identify the remains of their daughter who got burned beyond recognition. The family were not only aggrieved by the nature of their daughter’s death but by also the fact that their daughter’s house was not cordoned off as a officially crime scene, “ We are not happy with the fact upon arrival on the scene the house was never declared an official crime scene ,we never received any preliminary forensic report and no investigating officer was assigned to us as the family of the deceased, top it all we buried our sister without getting case number from the police ” said Makgwane Ratau who has been assigned as the family spokesperson. Mashegwana was buried a fortnight ago in scoonoord and the family still feel aggrieved by the cruel treatment they received from Kwa-Mhlanga Police Station “ what we experienced at Kwa-Mhlanga Police Station is gross-incompetence and we will explore other legal avenues that will help us find closure on what really happened that night, one neighbor allegedly eavesdropped the noisy argument coming from Mashegwana’s house which could mean that this is a premeditated arson which needs the police to uncover what transpired that night” concluded Ratau. Timeless News spoke to Brigadier Selvy Mohlala SAPS spokesperson in Mpumalanga, Mohlala refuted the claims that Police Station is grossly-incompetent because they have done everything possible to help the family of the deceased “ Members of the SAPS were called to attend scene at stand no 1646 Moloto RDP. On arrival they found Fire fighters extinguishing the fire at the house with buglar doors. The deceased, Grace Mohau Mashegwane was burnt to death, as confirmed by his parents. The Local Criminal Record Centre and Pathology were also summoned to the scene. The deceased was declared dead. The pictures of the scene was captured. The suspect and cause of fire still unknown. The Arson dog was also arranged. Post moterm was conducted and awaiting the results. No negligence was found from SAPS members.” Said Mohlala
