Polokwane:MEC for Economic Development, Environment and Tourism in Limpopo Province, Rodgers Monama Congratulates Polokwane City Football Club on its promotion to the elite league, the DSTV Premier Soccer League, saying the Promotion comes at a time wherein the province recorded a boom in tourist visits and became the second visited province in the country.

After three seasons in the wilderness, under the guidance of  Duncan Lechesa, City won the title by being consistent and pragmatic in their approach. They sealed the promotion with 57 points and a better goal difference in their allotted 30 games. Along with getting a return to tier one football, they have won themselves the R5m prize money.
The MEC views this promotion as one of the building blocks in the sport tourism sector, as more and more people will be flocking to the province, and as such benefitting the tourism and the hospitality industry. “This is a step towards solidifying and building a strong and resilient economy but also protecting the Jobs created in the SMME sector, who will continue to benefit from the matches hosted in the province.” said Monama.
The MEC also calls on players to take an opportunity during the recess to take a Shot Left and visit Limpopo Province to have a well-deserved break but also to refresh for the upcoming season. Timeless News  went to the streets to get the  views of Polokwane City Football Club fans and football supporters in general, “I am Kaizer Chiefs fan but with their( Kaizer Chiefs)  inconsistencies in the field of play lately under tutelage of Arthur Zwane, I think Polokwane City will be the consolation for the disappointment that we endured for the last 8 years. Who knows I might make them my permanent home” said Neo Mankge laughing uncontrollably. Solly Moagi couldn’t be outsmarted by his fellow Kaizer Chiefs tribesman, “I am now going to have more reasons to go to Polokwane for leisure other than work related stuff, i am going to attend Polokwane City’s home matches because I love the brand of football that they are playing, I hope that they will also give our local up and coming soccer players a chance to shine at highest level and change their lives” concluded Tukakgomo born Moagi.
