The program saw young people being equipped with much needed skills, which will help them to embark on their mission of transforming youth programs across the boarders the local municipality.
Tafelkop Residents Community Forum (TRCF) members, who were attending the induction, delivered a breathtaking experience in the occasion when educating young people on issues surrounding Gender Based Violence (GBV), and further taking them through positive life changing activities.
Various municipal departments also took the platform to advise young people through procedures to be followed when wanting to undertake important tasks or functions in life, as well as their relationship with the departments as a Youth Council.
The Manager of Anglo-American Mines, Jack Selowa, highlighted the important role of economic freedom to young people. “In order to be somewhere, you need to start somewhere first and your current situation must never determine your future, work hard and be unapologetic about your intentions as a young person,” informed Selowa.
The induction was also graced by the Mayor of Elias Motsoaledi Local Municipality Cllr Julia Mathebe, who came to edge solidarity in their endeavours. Mathebe ensured young people that the municipality will be with them every step of the way and will always pave a way to ensure that youth programmes run smooth as they advance their task of transforming the lives of their peers. “The induction workshop forms part of an investment into the youth. It is a key development programme that is aimed at transforming the lives of our aspiring young people by equipping them with powerful information to succeed in changing people’s lives through radical economic transformation and accelerated service delivery,” she said.
Mathebe said the municipality will ensure that young people are prioritized and integrated in the IDP and other development programmes. “I therefore have audacity to encourage you to continue taking active part in the nation building and make the national democratic society the success it is envisaged,” she said. Mathebe encouraged the youth to be actively involved in branches of their political parties and other community structures.
“You must be the ambassadors of change and development. We strongly believe that when you take the baton to participate in the political and economic life of our people and our nation, you would claim your place in history,” she said.
