To take stock of how the eleven Cuban Technical Advisors have been impactful to the infrastructure delivery work of the Limpopo Department of Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure, the Cuban Embassy delegation recently paid the department a courtesy visit.

The Cuban Embassy Delegation was led by Secretary of Press and Culture, Dianelis Forestal Mejias on behalf of Ambassador Rodolfo Benites Verson.

Limpopo Department of Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure MEC, Namane Masemola indicated that the relationship between Cuba and South Africa was an extraordinary one and that the expertise that the Cuban Technical Advisors (CATs) brought to the department was key in all the infrastructure projects.

Masemola said that amongst others, the CATs were doing an excellent job of mentoring the professionals who still needed to qualify through the Engineering Council, mentoring interns and were also paired with project officers to ensure that the core business of the department was properly executed to benefit the communities of Limpopo.

The MEC added that they remained committed to the relationship given the historical relations between the two countries and were singularly honoured to benefit from such vast expertise as they delivered on the mandate that was so central to the socio-economic life of the people of the province.

“Our mandate remains infrastructure provision and maintenance,” concluded Masemola.
