Mpumalanga has unveiled a new summer anthem, Phuma Langa, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Mpumalanga Cultural Xperience (MPUCE).
The track, recorded last week at Dawsons Trout and Lodge in eManzana, brings together 14 young local artists under the guidance of the Department of Culture, Sport and Recreation and Redamancy Studios.
It aims to capture the vibrancy and unity of the province’s arts scene.
Since its launch in 2015, MPUCE has grown into South Africa’s largest cultural festival, drawing crowds across the province with music, street carnivals, comedy, workshops, and gospel awards.
This year’s edition will run from November 27 to December 7.
Department spokesperson Sibongile Nkosi said the song reflects the spirit of the province: “Phuma Langa is more than just a song; it’s a symbol of our collective spirit and a showcase of Mpumalanga’s talent.”
The single features artists including WhoIsCam, SamEDee, Teeda SA, Mando Beats, Creed Paris, Bukiwe, Flameboy, Mzweshper, Da Mamba, Perddy Nkosi, DJ Geenger, Buhlebendabuko, DJ Zoe, and DJ Mnyasa. It is expected to top summer charts and set the tone for the festival’s landmark anniversary.
