The South African Police Service (SAPS) has refuted recent social media reports that kidnapped farmer and businessman, Mr. Jerry Boshoga, has been found murdered.
On Tuesday night, various social media platforms reported that Boshoga had been found dead.
SAPS has pleaded with the public not to spread false information, particularly in cases of this magnitude.
“The South African Police Service (SAPS) calls for responsible social media reporting around the kidnapping case of Mr. Jerry Boshoga,” stated the SAPS.
Police say the investigation into Boshoga — who has been missing since November 2024 — remains sensitive at this stage.
Boshoga’s disappearance forms part of a broader investigation into an active crime syndicate operating in South Africa.
Recent footage aired by Cutting Edge on SABC reportedly shows Boshoga still alive, in a dire condition — topless, with his hands tied.
SAPS has urged social media users to be considerate of the family and refrain from spreading unverified rumours.
