Eastern Cape– The Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality (BCM) has issued a stern warning to residents who leave their livestock unattended.
Yesterday, the municipality confiscated 15 goats in Ntabozuko, formerly known as Berlin, and handed them over to the SPCA in King William’s Town.
“We are seriously concerned, as these goats often enter the municipal landfill and feed on garbage due to neglect,” said the municipality.
Unattended animals are prone to disease, livestock theft, and are likely to damage both municipal and residential property.
There are various by-laws that livestock owners must comply with to avoid legal consequences and protect their animals.
“Animal owners must always adhere to animal safety regulations. Recently, we have observed several incidents of goats wandering freely, particularly in Ntabozuko,” the municipality warned.
