Letaba: The Premier of Limpopo, Dr. Phophi Ramathuba, is set to visit the incomplete Roads D15, D3150, and D3232 on Wednesday, in the Greater Letaba Municipality, starting at 09h00. These critical roadways connect the Molemole Municipality with the Greater Letaba Municipality and have been mired in controversy since construction commenced in 2017.

Initially projected for completion by August 2022, the road project has faced numerous challenges, particularly with the finishing of bridges and a final stretch of approximately 3.2 kilometres that remain undone. Although assurances were made to President Cyril Ramaphosa in April 2022 regarding timely completion, actual progress has remained stagnant.

In anticipation of her visit, Premier Dr. Ramathuba expressed the urgency surrounding the unfinished roads, stating, “I won’t be able to face the President without progress on this road. It is for this reason that I will make a physical inspection to understand the challenges that have impacted this project for such a long time. The aim is to get this road concluded immediately.”

During her visit, Premier Dr. Ramathuba will be joined by Mr. Ernest Rachoene, the MEC for Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure, as well as Mr. Moss Tseli, the Chairperson of Roads Agency Limpopo, along with senior officials from the department. The team will engage with traditional leaders and other stakeholders along the route to identify and address the issues obstructing the completion of this vital infrastructure project.
