Bushbuckridge — The vibrant pulse of Tsonga music is reaching new heights, thanks to the creative force of Pholoso Quietness Mhlongo — better known as Pholoso Musician.
Hailing from Bushbuckridge, this multitalented artist is transforming local rhythms into a growing brand, capturing audiences across South Africa and beyond.
Pholoso recently made headlines with his hit single “Munhu wa mina,” a standout continuation of Xigaza xa ma2K, an emerging genre within the Tsonga community. The track reflects his commitment to fusing traditional sounds with modern flair, creating a fresh, youthful style that resonates across generations.
His musical journey began in the late 2000s, singing in his church choir as a young boy.
“I gained recognition for being one of the best vocalists in church,” he recalls. “When I moved to high school, I became popular among my peers for my singing.”
Beyond his vocal ability, Pholoso also played guitar during church services — and impressed many with his beatboxing, known in his community as based box. “I started doing it early in my music career, and it really caught people’s attention,” he says.
His first major release, “NgaPhandle Kwakho,” produced by Candisonic in 2022, marked the beginning of his professional journey. He followed it with “Hita Humelela” in 2023, further solidifying his presence in the rising Tsonga music scene.

Speaking to Timeless News, Pholoso shared what drives him:
“I believe in the power of working hard and chasing dreams in the music industry. If you’re willing to put in the hours, the doors start opening.”
His dedication paid off early in 2024 when he collaborated with Phalaborwa star Mthimbani on the track “Mhani wa mina.” The song earned critical praise and landed him a nomination for Best Emerging Artist at the Munghana Lonene Music Awards — a major recognition for talent in the Limpopo region.
But Pholoso’s ambitions extend beyond music.
In 2023, he co-authored “Gingirikani” with Precious Mhlava, contributing to Tsonga literature. Later that year, he published “Words Can Change Your Life,” a motivational book reflecting his passion for uplifting others.
Toward the end of 2023, he launched Make Everything Possible (MEP) — a clothing brand built on resilience, ambition, and self-belief.
“I started with nothing but had a dream,” he says. “It’s now a source of inspiration for many young people, especially in my village of Saselani.”
Balancing studio sessions, writing, and business, Pholoso lives by a simple mantra: work hard, stay humble, and keep chasing the dream. His story continues to inspire aspiring artists and entrepreneurs in South Africa’s rural communities, proving that with determination and talent, success is truly within reach.
As he continues to grow, Pholoso Musician remains steadfast in his mission — to elevate Tsonga culture and music, one beat at a time.
