Acornhoek – Sidwell Khoza, popularly known as “Tshep Tshep”, was once again denied bail at the Acornhoek Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday. Magistrate Lwazi Mthembu ruled that Khoza will remain in custody until his next bail hearing, scheduled for 14–16 January 2026.
Khoza, a taxi magnate, bottle-store owner, and mortuary operator from Buyisonto village, is charged with the murders of Xihlamariso Nkuna and Kenneth Nkuna. Prosecutors say the killings stemmed from a dispute over Road Accident Fund (RAF) payouts.
Outside the court, residents gathered with placards calling for the case to be transferred to the High Court. “We want the case moved so the truth comes out and the families can finally find closure,” said Maria Sithole, a community member of Saselani. Community leader Thabo Mokoena added, “We are not happy with the magistrate’s decision. This matter needs to be heard in a higher court to ensure justice for our people.”
State attorney Nceba Ntelwa argued that Khoza poses a flight risk and is a danger to witnesses. “The evidence shows a clear intention to kill and a real threat to the community,” Ntelwa said.
If bail is again denied, the case will proceed to trial. The community hopes that the High Court will take over to guarantee a fair and speedy process.
This is a developing story.
