South Africa — Hyundai Automotive South Africa is celebrating 25 years in the local market with one of its most ambitious consumer campaigns yet, launching a nationwide “Hyundai Hunt” that turns the country into a real‑world adventure playground of clues, giant pins, prizes and discovery.

The eight‑week campaign invites members of the public across South Africa to track a series of giant Hyundai pins placed at iconic locations in three major cities — beginning in Gauteng, through KwaZulu‑Natal, and ending in the Western Cape — for a chance to win daily, weekly and regional rewards, culminating in a brand‑new Hyundai EXTER as the grand prize.

How the Hunt Works:

  1. Find the next pin by checking the official Hyundai Hunt microsite and Google Maps updates.
  2. Visit the pin location in person.
  3. Scan the QR code at the site to register and earn points.
  4. Visit nearby Hyundai dealerships to redeem instant “spot prizes” and climb the national and provincial leaderboard.

Location drops occur every two weeks, with well‑known stops including Sandton City, Gateway Mall and Access Park. The digital experience is supported by a custom microsite that tracks progress, handles sign‑ins and maps out dealer check‑ins.

Reward Structure

Hyundai has structured the campaign to keep excitement high throughout its eight‑week run:

  • Daily Spot Prizes — about 80 in total, including fuel vouchers, entertainment rewards and more.
  • Weekly Prizes — R500 vouchers awarded at each location.
  • Regional Prizes — R10 000 prizes for winners in each province.
  • Grand Prize — a brand‑new Hyundai EXTER to one ultimate hunter at the end of the campaign.

Dealerships and Engagement

Hyundai’s nationwide dealer network plays a central role in the experience, with each dealership serving as a key activation zone. At these locations, visitors can:

  • Check in via QR codes
  • Redeem spot prizes
  • Take selfies with life‑size pin installations
  • Watch hero video content and engage with brand ambassadors
  • Experience “Hyundai moments” tailored to celebrate the brand’s legacy and local connection.

The Hunt also features on‑the‑ground activations, influencer participation and an integrated media campaign across radio, social platforms and out‑of‑home advertising. Clues and updates are broadcast via fun, city‑specific “GPS Gone Wild” radio scripts and shared across Hyundai’s online channels, encouraging broad participation and vibrant user‑generated content.

Celebrating 25 Years in South Africa – The Hyundai Hunt is designed as a tribute to the millions of South Africans who have supported the brand since it first entered the market a quarter century ago. Hyundai’s local journey has seen it become a mainstay of the automotive landscape, backed by strong sales, dealer networks and community engagement.

The campaign will wrap up in March with a live announcement of the grand prize winner, celebratory content from across the country, and the official handover of the Hyundai EXTER to the champion of the hunt.
