The last time I wrote this opinion piece was in June 2019, today it brings me pleasure to share with our loyal readers that Timeless News will be relaunching as the first daily digital publication in Mpumalanga. Four years after the launch of our first edition in which we incorporated district business model into our product offering. Our district business model was not only limited to breaking stories from all five municipalities within the district, but, it also gave us an opportunity to do business with some of the municipalities within the district. We are also happy with financial commitments that we received from multinational companies like Columbus Stainless and South32 now known as Seriti. I am writing this opinion piece about the relaunch of Timeless News at a time wherein our country is faced with sporadiac acts of violence. This has seen many communities being burnt to ashes by the very community who claim to be protesting the arrest of former president Jacob Zuma who was jailed for contempt by the highest court in the land. As a business leader I would like to pay tribute to everyone that has been involved in making Timeless News a reality, your contribution to the rise of this sleeping giant has not gone unnoticed and to my current team “I love you”, the amount of energy that you have shown since I announced that we will be relaunching Timeless News as a daily digital publication your contribution has been amazing, Steve Jobs once said “great things in business are never done by one person. They are done by a team of people” in essence Mr Jobs, was telling us that no matter how brilliant you might be as a vision-bearer you still need a great team around to help achieve your goals. Many people might be asking why daily news? As a company we take this as an opportunity to get out our comfort zone and create a premium brand that will thrive on telling human interest stories and build partnerships that will make a difference in the lives of the loving people of our home Province Mpumalanga. Others might ask why did we ditch printing for digital? According to 2011 National Census, Mpumalanga has 4.4 Million residents of which 70% of them have access to internet according to a survey which was conducted by ICASA in 2018. These two important studies tells us that, we have an opportunity to dominate the online market share in the province. I am so excited about this new adventure, I hope that it will be an joyous journey for our readers too. On a sad note today I learned about the passing of Tshepo Tshola “The Village Pope” due to Covid19 related complications. The Village Pope had a career which spanned over 40 years which started in his home country Lesotho with a group called Sankomota which was led by the meticulous guitarist the late Frank Leepa. The music industry has lost a giant, we say REST IN PEACE NTATE TSHOLA.
