Students Expose Alleged Abuse, Corruption at Mpumalanga School

Bushbuckridge— Students at St. George Comprehensive School have raised alarm over what they describe as a climate of fear and corruption under the leadership of headmaster Mr. O. Ngungwini.

Allegations circulating on social media accuse him of bribery, abuse of power, and the exploitation of vulnerable learners.

According to student accounts, learners are allegedly forced to pay money to avoid punishments, while others report harassment and intimidation.

“He ruins lives and walks free every day,” said a Grade 12 learner, adding that complaints have gone unanswered.

One post detailed a disturbing incident during a school trip in which a learner felt followed and cornered in a bathroom.

The student alleged that the headmaster grabbed her while others looked away. Such stories have intensified anger among learners who say they no longer feel safe at school.

On social media, calls for justice are growing. “We won’t be silenced! I won’t be silenced!” wrote one student.

Others shared accounts of trauma, alleging repeated assaults on young girls and intimidation of anyone who dares to speak out.

Learners say their trust in the system has eroded. “We know nothing will happen because students are afraid to speak,” a senior learner said. Many argue that schools should be sanctuaries of safety and learning — not places where abuse is ignored and normalized.

Community members have since joined the chorus of concern, with petitions circulating online demanding urgent intervention by education officials. Students insist that they deserve respect, dignity, and protection from those in power.

As one learner summed up: “Girls are told to dress a certain way to avoid being targeted, but that shouldn’t be the case. We need safety and justice now.”

The allegations at the highlight the urgent need for decisive action to protect learners and restore trust in the education system.
