South Africa – Ster-Kinekor is stepping into the spotlight with a nationwide cinema revamp, unveiling refreshed movie houses across some of South Africa’s busiest malls — and audiences are already loving the upgrade.
The cinema chain has confirmed that several of its flagship locations have undergone modern renovations to elevate the movie-going experience. From a stylish new Kids’ Cinema at Eastgate to updated auditoriums at Sandton City, Cresta, and The Zone @ Rosebank, Ster-Kinekor is investing heavily in bringing back the magic of the big screen.
Parents at Eastgate say the new Kids’ Cinema is a hit, with colourful seating, playful décor, and a family-friendly atmosphere designed to make little ones feel right at home. At Sandton City and Cresta, audiences have noticed sharper screens, better sound, refreshed foyers, and a much more luxurious look overall.
Ster-Kinekor says the upgrades are part of a broader commitment to restoring confidence in the cinema experience after years of industry turbulence. With blockbuster season now in full swing, the timing couldn’t be better.
“South Africans love movies, and we want them to step into a space that feels world-class,” the company said in a statement. More revamps are expected to roll out into 2026.
