Kwa- Mhlanga:President Cyril Ramaphosa spent two days in the Nkangala District, emphasizing the government’s commitment to infrastructure development and community upliftment. On Tuesday, he visited the Steve Tshwete Local Municipality, followed by a significant event on Wednesday in Thembisile Hani Local Municipality, where he officiated the handover of bridge constructed as part of the Welisizwe Rural Bridges Programme.

The South African National Defence Force (SANDF), specifically the 1 Construction Regiment under the SA Army Engineer Formation, successfully built four bridges for the Kwa-Mhlanga community in Mpumalanga. This initiative is crucial for improving accessibility and connectivity in rural areas, fostering economic growth and development.

Accompanied by the Minister of Defence and Military Veterans, Hon. Angie Motshekga, President Ramaphosa officially opened the bridges, handing them over to the community as vital infrastructure investments. The bridges not only symbolize progress but also serve as a foundation for further development in the region.

In his address, President Ramaphosa highlighted the importance of sustainable development, emphasizing the need to transition to a low-carbon economy without compromising fragile livelihoods. “We must plan and invest in new technologies, new industries, and also be able to skill our people, reskill them, and upskill them into jobs that are needed in the new era that we are getting ourselves into,” he stated.
