Bushbuckridge – Mpumalanga Premier Mandla Ndlovu has reaffirmed his commitment to local economic growth and youth empowerment through a series of community engagements and oversight visits in the region.
During a recent assessment of government-funded projects in Mkhuhlu and Thulamahashe, Ndlovu emphasized the importance of sustainable development and support for small businesses.
“We are proud of our local entrepreneurs who are making big strides with government support,” he said.
One success story highlighted was GNG Investment (Pty) Ltd, a steel manufacturing company co-owned by young women entrepreneurs Natasha Khumalo and Phion Ndala.
The business produces window and door frames, roofing sheets, and aluminum doors, and has created 23 permanent jobs.
Praising their achievements, Ndlovu noted: “Supporting small businesses helps grow our economy.”
The Premier also commended community participation in the Take Legislature to the People (TLP) program, which encourages direct interaction between citizens and government. Speaking at Ximungwe Sports Field, he said: “This initiative places citizens at the heart of decision-making.”
Through the TLP platform, residents have raised pressing issues including electricity supply, road maintenance, and water access. Ndlovu assured communities that government remains committed to addressing these challenges.
To further tackle unemployment, his office has funded over 50 job opportunities through the Youth Development Fund.
Ndlovu’s engagements with local businesses and community groups reinforced his focus on poverty reduction and building a resilient, inclusive economy.
As Mpumalanga gears up for Heritage Month, the Premier underscored the role of entrepreneurship, cultural pride, and heritage preservation in driving grassroots development. “We want to build a stronger, more inclusive community for all residents,” he affirmed.
Ndlovu is scheduled to deliver the keynote address at the province’s main Heritage Day celebration on September 24th at the Thaba-Kgwali Sports Field.
