Johannesburg– The Patriotic Alliance (PA) has announced the deployment of Liam Jacobs to the City of Johannesburg, following the resignation of PA Deputy President Kenny Kunene from his position as the city’s Transport MMC.
Kunene’s abrupt departure came after he was found at the residence of Katiso Molefe during a police operation leading to an arrest.
PA leader Gayton McKenzie has appointed Jacobs to replace Kunene in council.
According to McKenzie, the decision is intended to give Jacobs hands-on experience and to continue the PA’s work—particularly addressing the city’s pothole crisis.
However, this move may not sit well with long-standing PA members, some of whom have been on the party’s candidate list for years. Jacobs only recently joined the PA, raising concerns about internal fairness and transparency.
Jacobs’ political trajectory has been swift.
Once a member of the ANC, he later joined the DA, where he served as a Member of Parliament. His DA membership was automatically terminated after he publicly declared support for the PA in a video.
