By Duncan Mnisi

Nkomazi – A severe storm struck the Nkomazi area this past Sunday, leaving over 30 homes, schools, health facilities, and surrounding villages such as Sikhwahlane, Mangweni, Madadeni, and Buffelspruit in distress.

The destruction was extensive: roofs were blown off, including Mangweni Clinic’s roof, and a school’s JoJo tank was completely destroyed.

Roads and community facilities, like a community hall, suffered damage, disrupting daily life for many residents.

According to reports, only two people sustained minor injuries during the storm and have since been discharged from hospitals.

MEC Speed Mashilo reassured communities that the government is actively working with all stakeholders to restore livelihoods and support recovery efforts.

Relief materials such as blankets, mattresses, and other essentials were distributed today to the affected families.

Ngobe emphasized, “We are working closely with stakeholders to restore normalcy and support the community during this difficult time.”
