South Africa — Renault has officially launched the new Renault Kiger Turbo in South Africa, bringing more power and upgraded features to the popular compact crossover.

The facelifted Kiger first made its debut locally in November 2025 with three naturally aspirated 1.0-litre models. Renault has now expanded the range with the more powerful turbocharged versions, which arrive in three specifications with prices starting from R278,999.

According to the manufacturer, the new addition builds on the refreshed Kiger lineup introduced late last year.

“Building on the updated Naturally Aspirated Kiger range introduced in November 2025, the new Kiger Turbo steps forward with enhancements you can see and feel, all anchored by Renault’s philosophy of attainable innovation,” the company said.

Powertrain: The new Kiger Turbo is powered by a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 74kW and 160Nm.

This represents a significant boost over the naturally aspirated models, offering 21kW and 64Nm more power and torque.

The engine is available in the Techno and Iconic trim levels. The Techno is offered exclusively with a five-speed manual gearbox, while the flagship Iconic can be paired with either the manual transmission or Renault’s X-Tronic continuously variable transmission (CVT).

Fuel consumption is rated at 5.0L/100km for the manual models and 6.0L/100km for the CVT variant.

Drivers also benefit from Renault’s Multi-Sense driving modes, allowing them to switch between Eco, Normal, and Sport depending on driving conditions.

Features: Positioned at the top of the Kiger lineup, the Turbo models come well equipped.

The Techno specification includes:

  • Roof rails
  • LED headlights with daytime running lights
  • 16-inch wheels
  • Full-size spare wheel
  • 405-litre boot capacity

Inside, the model offers keyless entry and start, a multifunction steering wheel, electric windows, dual-tone cloth seats, and automatic air conditioning with rear vents. Additional convenience features include a cooled glove box, a 7-inch TFT instrument cluster, and an 8-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Safety features include a rearview camera, rear parking sensors, ABS, tyre-pressure monitoring, six airbags, and electronic stability control.

The flagship Iconic model adds several premium touches such as 16-inch diamond-cut Evasion alloy wheels, rain-sensing wipers, an artificial leather steering wheel, ventilated leatherette seats, wireless charging, and a Multiview camera system.

Buyers can choose from six exterior colours: Autumn Yellow, Grey, Red, Blue, White, and Silver.

  • Renault Kiger 1.0 Evolution Manual – R219,999
