The new era at Sundowns after the exit of Pitso Mosimane to Al Ahly saw co-coaches Rhulani Mokwena and Manqoba Mngqithi secure the inaugural DStv Premiership title last season.
But with an ageing squad and tactically philosophies of their own, the squad was inevitably heading towards a transition with the likes of Pavol Safranko, Grant Kekana, Neo Maema and Divine Lunga the first of several expected signings. Some of the club stalwarts like Hlompho Kekana and Themba Zwane’s future recently came into question, with the captain said to be on the brink of an exit while there were uncertainties around Zwane’s new contract. However, Zwane is believed to be committed to Masandawana while Kekana reported for camp at the University of Pretoria (TUKS) since last week. After a week together while several key players are on international duty, the Brazilians’ technical team are in the process of assessing the fitness levels and undergoing medical tests with the current group of players before conditioning training.
