Musina – Interim Chief Executive Officer of the Musina-Makhado Special Economic Zone (MMSEZ), Ms. Irish Bologo, has denied allegations linking MMSEZ to the theft of white rock valued at R12 million from privately owned land.
The claims, recently published by the online outlet Mineweb, have left Bologo dismayed.
She insists the issue had already been addressed with the landowner.
“We were disturbed and shocked to learn through the media that Mr. Visser has taken the entity to court, demanding R12 million for what he alleges was the illegal removal of rock,” said Bologo.
According to the publication, a subcontractor working on roadworks in Musina allegedly removed approximately 35,000 cubic metres of white rock from private property.
While Bologo refutes these specific allegations, she acknowledges that MMSEZ has recently been involved in unrelated legal proceedings.
“As far as MMSEZ is concerned, no such lawsuit has been registered against us. We are not in court with anyone regarding this matter — the only recent case involving MMSEZ was dismissed by the court on 5 May 2025 due to lack of legal standing,” she clarified.
