MEC WARNS LOOTING IS THUGGERY

BY STAFF REPORTER
Agriculture MEC Mandla Msibi was hailed a hero as he told a group of young men outside Emoyeni mall in Nelspruit that looting was thuggery.
On Tuesday afternoon a video of Msibi addressing a group of young men about looting went viral on social media.
This happened as politicians received a lot of backlash for not showing leadership amidst the sporadic #FreeZuma protests in the province.
“If you are protesting for water and good roads, that matter ends with councillors.but when you enter shops to loot you are a thug. You can see how stressed the SA economy is. This is the only precious thing we have here in Ppienaar the rest are taverns,” Msibu said.
He said people were employed at the mall.
“Our brothers drive taxis to bring people here while most people just walk to this mall to buy groceries. All these people bring food on the table, although we understand they’re not earning enough money,” Msibi said.
He warned that looters might end up being shot dead and they should make sure they have a funeral cov2r as looting will not be tolerated.
Msibi told the crowd that former president Jacob Zuma’s imprisonment should not make them resort to criminal acts because that matter is for the justice system to deal with and has nothing to do with the mall.
