Tzaneen – The Limpopo Legislature is set to host the much-anticipated 2025 Men’s Parliament, an event dedicated to promoting positive development among men and addressing key issues affecting them. The event will take place on Friday, 5 December 2025, starting at 10:00 AM at the Karibu Leisure Resort in Tzaneen, situated within the Mopani District.
Under the empowering theme “Better men for tomorrow,” the Men’s Parliament seeks to engage men in meaningful dialogue and initiatives that encourage growth, responsibility, and leadership. This event underscores the Legislature’s commitment to empowering men to become proactive contributors to their families and communities.
Dr. Makoma Makurupje, Speaker of the Limpopo Legislature, spoke about the purpose of the Parliament during an interview on Timeless News’ TikTok Live breakfast show. She explained, “The aim of this event is to provide men in our province with a platform to say, ‘Not in our name,’ to violence against women and children. It is also an opportunity for men to review existing government policies and identify areas where interventions are required, as men face challenges just like women do. We must avoid painting all men with the same brush – there are many good men who also deserve protection.”
The event is expected to gather over 500 stakeholders, including representatives from municipalities and various civil society organizations such as the South African National Council for the Blind, South African Council of Churches, Human Rights Commission, Commission for Gender Equality, and the Limpopo Men Sector, among others.
Dr. Makurupje also took the opportunity to remind motorists to drive safely during the festive season: “Let’s drive carefully and adhere to speed limits on our roads. Let’s spend our hard-earned money wisely. Above all, I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year,” she concluded.
The 2025 Men’s Parliament promises to be a significant step towards fostering societal responsibility and reinforcing the crucial role of men in building safer, more supportive communities.
