Tshiulungoma – Rural residents of Tshiulungoma, outside of Thohoyandou are still in shock, after a 55-year-old man allegedly stabbed and killed his 45-year-old wife using a sharp object. The incident happened on Tuesday afternoon at the couple’s marital home.
“At about 13:09, on Tuesday, police were informed about the incident at Ha-Thukhutha, Tshilungoma 1 village, and rushed to the scene. Upon arrival, they found a female victim aged 45 lying in a pool of blood with multiple stab wounds inside the house,” said Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, Limpopo police spokesperson.
Ledwaba told Timeless News that upon further observation, police discovered a 55-year-old husband of the victim hanging from a roof of the house.
“The members of the Emergency Medical Services were summoned to the scene and on arrival they immediately certified the couple dead. Both the deceased were warrant officers attached to Thohoyandou local criminal record centre,” said Ledwaba.
Thohoyandou police have since opened a murder and inquest docket following an untimely death of the couple. But the motive of the incident is unknown at this stage, but domestic violence cannot be ruled out.
Limpopo Provincial Police Commissioner, General Thembi Hadebe, has described the loss of the two officers of the law as a concern.
“The untimely death of the two members is a serious loss and a devastating blow to our organisation as well as community at large. We once more call our members to seek assistance from our relevant structures like Employee Health and Welfare to avoid this unnecessary loss of lives,” said Hadebe.
A neighbour who stays one house away from the couple home who wished to remain anonymous told Timeless News that he is still shocked about the incident as he never suspected that the couple might have been having any marital problems.
“I am still in shock. Those two seems to be so happy together and even now I do not know what might have led to their deaths. If they had a disagreement over something, they should have just sought professional help, instead of killing each other which is wrong,” said the neighbour.
