Gauteng -Gauteng police killed three suspects on Wednesday following a high-speed pursuit along the N12, authorities confirmed. The chase began after the suspects reportedly robbed a courier vehicle in Tokoza and fled in a silver Toyota Corolla.

Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi, spokesperson for Gauteng police, said officers acted on information about the vehicle, which was later spotted on Kliprivier Road joining the N12 toward Soweto. When police attempted to stop the car, the suspects accelerated, triggering a high-speed pursuit that ended in a shootout.

All three suspects were pronounced dead at the scene. Police recovered two firearms and items believed to have been taken during the robbery, while one individual sustained injuries during the incident.

Gauteng Provincial Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Tommy Mthombeni praised the swift coordination between multiple units, including the Gauteng Tactical Response Team, Traffic Police Airwing, and private security personnel. Their rapid response contributed to ending the pursuit and securing the recovered property.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
