Eastern Cape – Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality (BCMM) Executive Mayor, Cllr Princess Faku, is seeking to expand the municipality’s recreational development initiatives.

She highlighted vehicle spinning as an inclusive innovation that is guaranteed to attract both young men and women, as well as local businesses.

“We want to work together to ensure that this energy is channelled into something constructive, organised, and culturally recognised,” said Faku.

Today, she met with the leadership of the Buffalo City Spinning Federation, who requested a safe vehicle spinning playground in East London.

Unappeased by the initial proposal, the Mayor has deployed municipal officials to explore its feasibility based on safety and compliance standards.

She has stated that the the approach will prioritise safety for both participants and spectators and all this has to work through community consultation and local partnerships.

The Mayor thanked the Spinning Federation and young people for raising their voices—not only through protests, but also by contributing to positive changes that will help build the Metro.
