DUMI DE-MENTOR HOST THE WINTER GAMES

Manganeng: Over the weekend Dumi Moela famously known as Dumi De-Mentor hosted a two days tournament in Manganeng outside Jane Furse in the area of Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality. The tournament was segmented into two divisions football and netball, football comprised of eight teams and netball of four teams. The sole intention of these winter games is to keep youth off the streets with a view of keeping them active and productive and spare them from the temptations of alcohol and drugs abuse which is now a big habit which destroys lives of many young people with a potential of becoming next sports stars. Event coordinator Miss Malebo Mashianoke Spoke exclusively to Timeless News about the rigorous process of organizing the tournament which has been earmarked to be an annual event according to Dumi DE -Mentor the founder and the brainchild behind these winter games “ I have to admit that it was never an easy process for us when we first conceptualized these games with the founder Dumi De-Mentor however through insistence and persistence we were able to bring few yet key and critical sponsorship partners on board such as PMash,Code For Girls Foundation, Gae Ga Sekhukhune Collins Protection Partners KMK Photography, Keeper Of the Nation, Setja 4 Sound System, Rakgaodi Progresive Bakery and Nestle Stars and Children Centre . Equally important I want to acknowledge and thank the ward 17 councillor Tony Nkadimeng, participating teams and community members for coming out in large numbers to support our inaugural tournament, in our next event we promise them a product which will include other sporting codes like volleyball, cricket, basketball, boxing and others” concluded Mashianoke Sports Science graduate from Tshwane University of Technology. The organizers of this event are appealing to businesses around the area of Makhuduthamaga and beyond to partner with them in fighting the scourge of alcohol and drugs abuse which is mainly caused by idleness because of the higher number of unemployed young people in our communities, event has also created business opportunities for locals sold various food products to the patrons of the tournament.
