Johannesburg – Department of Social Development (DSD) spokesperson Lumka Oliphant has launched a blistering attack on Minister Sisisi Tolashe after being served with a suspension letter.

In a Facebook post, Oliphant claimed her suspension followed the Sunday Times exposé on Tolashe’s R3 million New York trip, accusing the minister of blaming her for media leaks.

“Sisisi, who does not even have a Grade 12, has been ridiculing my work even though I remain one of the best-performing Heads of Communication in government according to GCIS,” Oliphant wrote.

She alleged the move was politically motivated, tied to Tolashe’s battles with former minister Bathabile Dlamini and influenced by advisor Ngwako Kgatla, whom she accused of nepotism aDSD Spokesperson Lumka Oliphant Lambasts Minister Over Suspension and factionalism.

Despite the alleged charges, Oliphant vowed not to be silenced.

“I will NOT be intimidated by Sisisi. To show that I know my work, my work is recognised internationally and confirmed today for an award.”

The department has yet to respond to Oliphant’s explosive claims, which have deepened public scrutiny of tensions within Social Development.
