Mpumalanga– The passing of businessman, journalist, and founder of Mkhondo TV, Dlozi Msibi, has come as a great shock to the citizens of Mpumalanga.
As multiple messages of condolences have poured in, the Gert Sibande District Municipality (GSDM) has also expressed its heartfelt sympathy.
GSDM described Msibi as an extraordinary and fearless journalist who worked hard to keep the entire Gert Sibande District and beyond -informed and connected through digital media.
“Mr. Msibi was a fearless visionary in community media, providing a platform that elevated local voices, captured stories, and held government and institutions to account. We believe that his unwavering dedication to reporting from the heart of the community earned him deep respect and gratitude from many, just as it did from us at GSDM,” said the municipality.
Additionally, the Acting Director-General of Government Communications and Information System (GCIS), Nomonde Mnukwa, said GCIS recognises community media as an essential stakeholder in advancing democracy.
She said, “Platforms like Mkhondo TV play a vital role in promoting transparency, public participation, and access to information.”
