MPUMALANGA HEALTH OFFICIALS ADDRESS COMMUNITY CONCERNS REGARDING DISRUPTION OF HEALTHCARE SERVICES

Kabokweni :The MEC for Health in Mpumalanga, Ms Sasekani Manzini, alongside other key stakeholders including the Head of Department, Dr L.K Ndhlovu, and the Executive Mayor of the City of Mbombela, Cllr Sibongile Makhushe-Mazibuko, recently convened a community engagement meeting at Kabokweni Community Hall. The purpose of this meeting was to address the recent disruption of healthcare services by certain community members and provide a platform for open dialogue.
Manzini emphasized the importance of maintaining a safe and secure environment in healthcare facilities. She pleaded with the community not to engage in any disruptive activities, such as vandalizing clinics or hospitals, as it poses a threat to the wellbeing and security of healthcare workers, patients, and other stakeholders, ” it is unacceptable and it threatens the safety and security of everyone, it can be health workers, patients and other stakeholders that may be visiting the facility for various reasons. We are very much pleased to know, that everyone here wants the facility to be operational and provide health care services to our people.it is everyone responsibility to safeguard our facilities and utilise it for your benefit.” said Manzini .
The engagement meeting provided an opportunity for community members to voice their concerns and opinions regarding the provision of healthcare services by the facility. Several administrative issues relating to service delivery were also brought to the forefront for discussion.
The Executive Mayor, Cllr Sibongile Makhushe-Mazibuko, facilitated the discussions throughout the meeting. She acknowledged the importance of continuing the dialogue and suggested organizing a subsequent meeting to address the concerns raised and present feedback on the proposed interventions. This follow-up meeting would allow for a collaborative effort between the community and healthcare officials in finding viable solutions for improving healthcare services in the area.
