MEC MAVHUNGU LERULE RAMAKHANYA ACTIVATES 48-HOUR ACTION PLAN AFTER DEVASTATING FIRE AT MAGALE SECONDARY SCHOOL

Maserumule Park: In an effort to swiftly address the aftermath of a destructive fire, MEC Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya has activated a 48-hour action plan at Magale Secondary School in the Sekhukhune South Education District. The fire, which occurred in the early hours of the morning on the Friday of August 9, 2024, resulted in the complete destruction of the school’s administration block, food storage area, library, and other educational essentials.
The activation of the 48-Hour Action Plan aims to ensure that teaching and learning can continue without major disruptions. As part of the plan, the education department will provide four mobile classrooms and school furniture.
Additionally, essential materials such as Learner, Teaching, Support Material (LTSM), food for learners, and printing supplies will be outsourced from neighboring schools. This is crucial, especially considering that grade 12 learners at Magale Secondary School are currently engaged in trial exams, “I call upon Team Education and all responsible stakeholders to be hard at work in making sure that all the damaged essentials are delivered to the school within 2 days. I would like to send gratitude to the support and leadership of the school governing body, Sekhukhune District Municipality and Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality for declaring to support the school continuously. To SAPS, let’s bring the perpetrators to book as they ruin the future of our learners’. said Lerule-Ramakhanya .
The MEC also took the opportunity to acknowledge the unwavering support and resilience shown by community leaders and the traditional authority of Maserumule Park. Their collaboration with the education department demonstrates their commitment to securing the future of learners in the region, “I want to take this opportune moment in this unfortunate turbulant time to convey my gratitude of appreciation to all of you in the community who have shown support since the occurrence of this unfortunate event of circumstances” concluded Lerule-Ramakhanya
In response to the incident, the department will dispatch all necessary tools and resources through their responsible departmental units as part of the recovery plan. The aim is to restore a sense of normalcy to Magale Secondary School, enabling students and teachers to resume the crucial culture of teaching and learning.
Despite the unfortunate circumstances, MEC Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya expressed her gratitude to the community for its support during this challenging time. The solidarity and dedication shown by all stakeholders reaffirm the belief that education is a societal matter that requires collective efforts to overcome obstacles and pave the way for a brighter future.
