MINISTER MANTASHE, PHAAHLE  JOINS SERITI TO HANDOVER STATE OF ART PRIMARY HEALTHCARE FACILITY TO PHOLA RESIDENTS

 Phola: The Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy, Mr Gwede Mantashe together with the Chief Executive Officer of Seriti Resources Mr Mike Teke on Thursday, officially handed over the new primary healthcare facility (Phola Clinic – Phola Ogies) at Emalahleni Local Municipality to the Minister of Health Dr Joe Phaahla as part of the Social and Labour Plan project implemented by Seriti Coal and Khutala Colliery.

The population in Phola is growing, and there was a need to relieve the old Phola Clinic, and that will improve the provision of healthcare.

The R17 676 260 new state of the art health facility has six consulting rooms, 3 virtual rooms, an emergency room, a dispensary, and other rooms supporting the daily operation of the facility.

The construction of the facility created 56 direct and indirect job opportunities and developed skills as training was provided to employees.

Before introducing the Ministers ,The MEC for Health in Mpumalanga ,Ms Sasekani Manzini said we are greatful for this partnership between government and Seriti Resources, that will benefit our people “we are also glad to announce that currently the department of Health in Mpumalanga is moving with speed to achieve ideal status for all our health facilities.We have 247 ideal Clinics: 90 are from Ehlanzeni District, 71 from Gert Sibande District, and 86 from Nkangala District and at Platinum status,we have the total of 214 ,74 from Ehlanzeni District,58 from Gert Sibande District, and 82 from Nkangala District and I’m sure the new clinic will also join the ideal clinics.As are province, we just completed the backlogs we had on orthopedic Surgeries

through our Orthopedic marathon programme, and recently, we have launched women’s health marathons( surgery cases), and I have been informed that we have surpassed our target.

Minister Gwede Mantashe said, “The community of Phola should know that, the Clinic is for them, and they must look after their assets.Community must desist from destroying their own assets in the name of demanding other services.The Social and Labour plans and Intergrated Development Plan (IDP) should talk to each other to address many issues of the communities. ” I acknowledge the Seriti Project because , it addresses issues of the IDP. Accepting the health facility Minister,Dr Joe Phaahla said, ” When I received an invitation to come here, I could not hesitate to come for such a gift. The construction of the clinic is a major contribution to the Universal Health Coverage.I have no doubt this clinic will reach an ideal clinic status and improve access to Primary Health Care services.

The CEO of Seriti Resources said the newly built community health center stands as a beacon of hope and vitality. This remarkable endeavor, born from the collective dedication for our community’s wellness.
