South Africa — The new Suzuki Across (2026) is set to arrive in South Africa soon, with local pricing already emerging ahead of its official launch.
Suzuki’s latest crossover will join the brand’s growing SUV line-up as a front-wheel-drive offering, with three derivatives expected at launch.
Pricing and positioning: The Across will be offered in familiar GL and GLX trim levels, similar to the approach taken with the closely related Suzuki Grand Vitara.
Pricing is expected to start at R349,900 for the entry-level model, placing it slightly below the equivalent Grand Vitara variant.
The full local line-up is as follows:
- Suzuki Across 1.5 GL 5MT – R349,900
- Suzuki Across 1.5 GL 6AT – R372,900
- Suzuki Across 1.5 GLX 6AT – R464,900
This positions the Across as a direct competitor within the compact SUV segment, with some overlap against the Grand Vitara range. Both models share Suzuki’s Global C platform and a 2,600mm wheelbase, although the Across is marginally longer at 4,360mm.
New engine and mild-hybrid tech: Unlike some of Suzuki’s existing models, the Across will not use the familiar K15B engine.
Instead, it introduces a newer 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine (K15C) paired with a mild-hybrid system. This setup includes a 12V lithium-ion battery and an integrated starter generator (ISG), which assists the engine under acceleration and recovers energy during braking.
Power outputs are expected to sit at 76kW and 137Nm, with fuel consumption rated at approximately 5.3L/100km, regardless of transmission choice. Notably, automatic models benefit from a 6-speed transmission, replacing the older 4-speed unit found in some related Suzuki models.
Features and equipment: The new Across is expected to be well-equipped across the range.
Standard features are likely to include:
- 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster
- 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system
- Reverse camera
- Wireless smartphone charging
- Powered tailgate with gesture control
- Rear parking sensors
- Six airbags
The range-topping GLX adds a more premium feel with:
- Faux-leather upholstery
- Electrically adjustable driver’s seat
- Ventilated front seats
- Leather-trimmed steering wheel
- 8-speaker Infinity sound system
- 64-colour ambient lighting
- Panoramic sunroof
- Head-up display
- 360-degree camera system
It is also expected to feature a suite of advanced driver assistance systems, including:
- Adaptive cruise control
- Lane-keep assist
- Lane-departure warning
- Blind-spot monitoring
- Rear cross-traffic alert
Buyers will also have access to a range of exterior colour options, with the GLX offering a contrasting black roof as an optional extra.
Warranty and service plan: Pricing for the new Suzuki Across includes a:
- 5-year/200,000km warranty
- 4-year/60,000km service plan
A new contender in a crowded segment: With its competitive pricing, updated mild-hybrid powertrain, and generous feature list, the Suzuki Across is set to strengthen the brand’s position in South Africa’s highly competitive compact SUV segment.
It also gives buyers another alternative to models like the Grand Vitara, while introducing newer technology and improved efficiency.
