OVER 100 NEEDY HOUSEHOLDS BENEFIT FROM THE MAYORAL FOOD DRIVE

JaneFurse: Over hundred needy households in Makhuduthamaga have today benefited from this year’s Mayoral Easter Food Drive. The food drive program, which the Mayor leads with the assistance of the good hearts of local businesses, intends to provide little relief to the vulnerable households in the Municipality.
The Hon Mayor says she fully understands the economic challenges and inequalities confronting these families as she was brought up in similar situation herself.
“I know poverty. I have lived and been subjected to this pain almost all my life. Poverty affects the mind and erodes your dignity. Hence as leaders, we should always be on the side of the poor, especially child – headed households and the vulnerable women in our society”.
Makhuduthamaga is a rural Municipality where extreme poverty levels exists in almost every household, and the Mayor strongly believes that poverty interventions program such as these will go a long way.
” We are a government. Our job, together with good Samaritans from the business community, and whom we appreciate so much, is to pull every lever and deliver our needy communities out of these harsh conditions with impactful initiatives such as these”. Added the Mayor.
In the end, a noble and touching lives – initiative embraced by Mohlala family in Ward 3, Phokwane village, who couldn’t hold back to thank the Mayor and her collective enough “for their good hearts and generosity. We will have something to eat this Goodfriday”.The sentiments also echoed by the Matjomane Family in Dichoueng village who also received their food hamper and displayed appreciation.
