How To Deal With Strongholds?

In the previous post about strongholds, we saw how strongholds get entrenched in a person’s mind and psyche. These things twist a person’s view about GOD. They make a person to see or hear the Word of GOD through some sort of filters based on the lies the devil told them about GOD. These strongholds raise counter arguments against the Word of GOD each time the Word broaches a subject of concern.

Now let’s make this practical. We’re going to look at what the Word says in Matthew 6:23 – But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!

When you have strongholds in your life, it’s like having an evil (bad or unhealthy) eye or view/perception on things. This state can only bring you darkness on areas of your life where these strongholds are entrenched. You can only overcome these things by the Word of the LORD. The LORD Jesus in Luke 4 would always overcome the devil’s attacks by the Word, saying “it is written…” There’s no other way or strategy besides using the Word to tear these strongholds down.

If you don’t know what specific strongholds you have in your life, it’s simple to find out. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal them to you. HE will reveal them to you. Note them down on a piece of paper. Then you need to acknowledge them and repent from them – this is very crucial. A heart that still justifies these things is full of darkness and is not ready to decisively deal with these things. Let me make this statement boldly that GOD the FATHER is righteous and just (Psalm 89:14). The reasons you’re angry at the LORD for, are misinformed. That’s why I say you need to repent from that standpoint.

[If you’re not born again unto salvation or you had backslidden, give your life to the Almighty GOD by praying the following prayer:

Dear GOD,
I come to YOU in the Name of Jesus Christ. I admit that I am not right with YOU, and I want to be right with YOU. I ask YOU to forgive me of all my sins. The Bible says if I confess with my mouth that “Jesus is LORD,” and believe in my heart that GOD raised HIM from the dead, I will be saved (Rom. 10:9). I believe with my heart and I confess with my mouth that Jesus is the LORD and Savior of my life. Thank YOU for saving me!
In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen.]

After you have repented, then get back to that page on which you wrote those strongholds. For every evil stronghold that you had believed, now write down an antithesis (opposite version) thereof. An example: if you had believed that “GOD has HIS favourites and you’re not one of them”, then the antithesis of this will be “I am GOD’s beloved child.” Below this new statement, then reference/write a Scripture such as Romans 9:25 – “As HE saith also in Osee, I will call them MY people, which were not MY people; and her beloved, which was not beloved.” You can use this pattern for all the other strongholds that you’ll have written down.

The Bible says you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free – John 8:32. You are now on your way to victory over these strongholds. You need to make prayer a daily practice. Each time you pray, take that paper and read the antithesis statements that align with the Word about yourself. Believe those new statements in your heart. In my case, I did this for about 2 to 3 weeks, and those strongholds lost their grip on me. I’m just giving you a practical reference. Never give up until those strongholds are torn down and don’t hold sway in you at all. This is not some theory but real things that the LORD taught me by HIS mercy and grace.

When you utter those statements in prayer, a new faith or belief system replaces the lies of the devil in you, which had become evil self-fulfilling prophecies over your life for so long. Now a new belief system is being entrenched in you, which will become good self-fulfilling prophecies over your life.

The Word of GOD says, in Proverbs 4:23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

Also in Deuteronomy 30:14-15
But the Word is very nigh unto thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart, that thou mayest do it. [15] See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil;

Align what’s in your mind, heart and psyche with the Word of the LORD so that you may reap goodness unto yourself. That is how you pull down strongholds of the devil in your life. The devil has been giving you bitterness in life through those strongholds, and now is the time to break free in the Name of the LORD Jesus. I will conclude with this Scripture in the book of Isaiah the Prophet, which says “If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:” – Isaiah 1:19

May the Name of the LORD Jesus Christ be glorified to all eternity, amen.
